Back to the allotment....

And It seems that I am winning ...

Over the weeds!!   Soo many of them!! But I have hand weeded round onions, spud and broad beans.   We have had rain, sun, wind and fog/mist....and I was really giving up hope on getting anything else planted this year....
BUT TODAY.....the sun has come out, the wind is still around but slightly warmer and I have managed to get in three rows of peas!!!  A couple of weeks ago, I put  my courgette and pumpkin plants in the allotment as they had got too big for their pots, but I still have an awful lot of tomato plants growing in the greenhouse.  Also, I have sweetcorn plants that look ready to go in, but due the the weird weather we are having at the moment, I'm not sure that it would be a good idea...maybe I'll wait a few more days...but with those, and the beetroot plants and broccoli, time is moving on and I'm not sure if things will progress this year.... it may be that I'll just have to accept what comes!
I have covered part of this allotment with some DPM that was going spare in my back garden for months. Hopefully it will mean I don't have to weed that end of it! As you can see, the weeds are coming up fast and furious. and I have to use the push hoe (which I have borrowed from my bruv, who also has an allotment here!) every week to keep them down.....

Onions seem to be doing OK......
Spuds are fine......
 As are the broad beans.....
And the courgettes and the three pumpkin plants to the left of this picture....
Well, that aside, I have managed to finish a project that has been going on since last year......I 'got' a cable wire spool that was going up for grabs (well it was going to be 'binned'!) with good intentions of tiling it and making it into a garden table (these things seem such a good idea at the time!!)....With my left over glass tiles from the kitchen, a bit of PVA and a lot of help from my hubby and son, here is the finished project!!!  I have yet to grout the tiles, but none the less, I/we are very proud of it!  What do you think???

The hole in the middle can take an umbrella or as you can see, a vase of flowers that will not fall over!!!  I sadly didn't take any 'before' photo's,... Now I just need some chairs to go with it......my  next project!!!.

And lastly, a quick pic of the sun today shining down on the allotment....
and on to my newly planted pea seeds....(3 rows!!)_
Here's hoping the sun keeps shining where ever you all are  :)

  3. lucky you, your veg patch looks very productive compared to mine! Still, it has actually stopped falling out of the sky now so once the ground dries out a little, maybe i can attempt some damage control!
Your table is great, well done!!

  4. Brilliant table, and once again I'm envious of your space. I've put in some spuds, runner and dwarf beans, lettuce and radishes, and everything is very slow. I saved a couple of pumpkin seeds from a shop-bought pumpkin last year, put them in pots last week, and they've just germinated, but I guess they are a bit late. Oh well, never mind.
Well done for all your hard work,
    Joy x x

  5. What a fab table, love the effect of the glass tiles- that must have taken hours! My garden is a sorry state on the veggie front this year, it's been a funny weather year, and we only moved in a few weeks ago- good luck with your growing! :o)
