Snow Day Activity

Stuck indoors...

Although we managed to get out dog walking over the 'snow' days (see last post), it was soo cold, a majority of our time was spent by the fire...
I have had a large 'crop' of  lavender in my dining room since early autumn, drying out, so I took this time stuck indoors to 'harvest' the seeds (is that what they are called?) to be made into lavender bags/pot pourri...

I'm sure there must be an easier way of doing this with out making soo much mess!!  Still, the hoover smelt quite nice after!!

I also started to make a large foot stool/pouffe/seat, with this fabric....I LOVE it!!  I already have a bag and covered book made out of it, so this will finally use it all up!!!
Hopefully when I have brought a new 'zipper' foot for my sewing machine, I will be able to finish it off and fill it with bean bag beans like this one ...
Lovely to 'sit/lay' on but quite hard to get up from!!

  4. Lavender does have a lovely smell and it sounds as if you have hit on a new idea to freshen up an old vacuum. I think the dried bits you pulled off will be the flowers. They do go rather hard and seed-like when left to dry out completely.

  6. Yummy! I have been trying to grow lavender from seed for the last couple of years but have yet to be able to harvest the flowers, how lovely! Did you hang the flower stalks up to dry or have they been flat all the time?
