Allotment update...

First crop...

Popped down allotment last night for a quick check on how things were doing and what had been eaten by the pigeons......and surprised to see a few courgettes starting to come along!!!  Also, a rather large crop of last years potatoes had come up around them, so I had to dig them up.  I wasn't expecting to see any spuds, but WOW!!  Out of a few plants I didn't even know were there,  I had this little lot!!!

They were taken straight home, washed, boiled and added to a small (well, fairly large really!!) amount of butter....added a salad (not my own grown yet..).....
and some really nice sirloin steak......... (ignore this if you're veggie..)
a few griddled asparagus tips, and voilĂ !!!  Dinner was served!!
Just a little fresh peborred from Denmark ( grated horseradish, very yummy, but never seen it for sale here), and a bit of olive oil and black pepper and I'm one happy mumma!!!!

Oh, and if anyone knows where I can buy Peberrod in England, please let me know!! :)

  6. Always nice to get an unexpected treat and they do/did look very nice. Bet they tasted just that bit extra yummy knowing you had grown them yourself. Hugs Mrs A.

  9. Nothing better than home grown. The salad looks delicious and like yourself I do like to have new potatoes with a salad.
I'm quite partial to courgettes myself as well. In summer I usually make up courgette omelets and in winter a soup.
Do so wish I could get home grown here.

    keep well

    Amanda :-)

  10. Nothing like eating your home grown produce. At least you know what is in and on them.
